Our Code of Ethics
Family research in a legal, ethical manner
It is the policy of the Blood-Ties People Search Service to carry out their business of family research in a legal, ethical, caring and professional manner. We pledge to perform all professional duties in accordance with the highest moral principles and never to be guilty of conduct that will bring reproach upon our profession.
We will not divulge a person’s whereabouts without their consent. We aim to protect people’s privacy at all times. We will act as a go-between once contact has been made until both parties are happy to share their personal details. We find that this removes a lot of stress from the first contacts. It also allows the subject of the search to keep their privacy and avoid contact if they so choose.
It must be understood that we may not be able to trace the person you are looking for. However, if at a later date information were to come our way hinting at the location of the person sought, we will let you know.
It must be remembered that an initial payment is required for work to commence on specialist research and that this payment is made as soon as we accept your instructions and it is non-returnable. The final payment must be received before we will put you in touch with the person you are looking for.
We reserve the right to terminate a search at any time, without prejudice, if we feel that it is uneconomic to continue or not in the interests of the parties concerned.
We do not undertake work for people under the age of 18, nor do we search for missing children. In cases of missing children or other vulnerable people the police should be your first call.
We recognise that we have a duty of confidentiality to our clients and we pledge to respect the privacy of our clients and their lawful confidence. However, we agree to assist all regulatory and legal authorities when required to do so by law.
We agree to practice only in matters, for which we are qualified and competent, namely the tracing of family, friends and missing heirs.
The information we use to locate people is all to be found in the public domain and it is collected legally and fairly.
We cannot accept liability for the outcome of any contact initiated by either party after the search is complete. In truth, not all searches have a happy ending. Nonetheless, we believe that you have the right to try and find the people missing from your life and we are happy to help you in your search.
